KEYNOTE SPEAKER: NINA TOTENBERG

NPR’s Award-Winning Legal Affairs Correspondent Famous for Her Supreme Court coverage; Author of Dinners With Ruth (2022)

Nina Totenberg shines a light on the inner workings of our nation’s highest court and helps audiences understand the impact of headline-making judicial cases on America’s future.

Nina has won every major journalism award in broadcasting and holds the distinction of being the first radio journalist to have won the National Press Foundation’s “Broadcaster of the Year” award.

Referred to as “the crème de la crème” of NPR by Newsweek, Nina shares her seasoned reGections on the Supreme Court, top legal issues affecting everyday Americans, and the important cases being considered by the court. In-depth and wildly thought-provoking, her deep experience and nuanced perspective provides audiences insight into today’s judicial headlines like no one else can.

A tribute and testament to her nearly 50-year friendship with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Nina’s memoir, Dinners With Ruth: A Memoir on the Power of Friendships, has been published by Simon & Schuster in September of 2022.

2023 PIONEERING PARTNER AWARD: REGINA MONTOYA

Regina Montoya is the CEO and Chairperson of Regina T. Montoya, PLLC. She is a Harvard-trained attorney who has been nationally recognized as one of the top lawyers in the country, and she is a former award-winning television commentator. Ms. Montoya is a frequent public speaker on a wide range of issues, including education, healthcare, poverty, and diversity, equity and inclusion.   

One of the first Latinas to earn partnership in a major corporate law firm in the United States, Ms. Montoya received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Minority Counsel Program of the State Bar of Texas and the La Luz Achievement Award from the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association. The American Bar Association selected Ms. Montoya as a recipient of the Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award.   

Ms. Montoya was appointed by President Biden to serve on the President’s Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics. She served in the White House as an Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, and she was nominated by the President to serve as a U.S. Representative to the 53rd Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Ms. Montoya also served as the Senior Vice President, External Relations and General Counsel at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, one of the largest pediatric health care providers in the nation. In addition, Ms. Montoya served as the co-chair of the Dallas Mayor’s Task Force on Poverty. 

A leader in the nonprofit community, Ms. Montoya is the President and Board member of the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation. She is a member of the Board of the Mexican American Legal Defense & Educational Fund (MALDEF)(1st Vice Chair), Every Texan (formerly the Center for Public Policy Priorities), National Development Council (NDC), the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society, Inc., Dallas Education Foundation (Dallas ISD) and Executive Women of Dallas. She serves on the Advisory Boards of Foreign Policy for America, WINGS (Chair), the Concilio, Leaders of Color, The Alumni Society and HHM (formerly Healing Hands Ministries). She also serves on the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s Texas Advisory Committee.

Krys Boyd is host and managing editor of Think from KERA in Dallas – a position she’s held since 2006. To date, the national program can be heard on more than 160 stations across the country.

A graduate of Texas Christian University’s Bob Schieffer College of Communication, Krys began her career as a journalist along the U.S./Mexico border and returned to North Texas in 1999 to serve as News Director for Broadcast.com, and later Senior Producer of Broadcast News at Yahoo. Krys joined KERA in 2001, hosting the nightly radio talk show Conversations.

EMCEE: CYNTHIA IZAGUIRRE

Cynthia Izaguirre is an anchor at WFAA in Dallas, TX, specializing in television news and weekly Wednesday’s Child reports.

Cynthia is most proud of her work with Wednesday’s Child. Since 2011, she has produced and anchored the segments which help find abused and neglected children a safe and loving home. In addition, Cynthia is on the Board of Directors for TexProtects: The Texas Association for the Protection of Children. It has become Cynthia’s mission to fight for the most vulnerable children in our communities.
