National Council of Jewish Women Greater Dallas Section Celebrates 106th Birthday with Luncheon featuring keynote speaker Ellen Goodman, Pulitzer Prize winning columnist and author

DALLAS, Texas, January 22, 2019 – The National Council of Jewish, Women Greater Dallas Section (NCJW Dallas) will celebrate 106 years of service in the Dallas community on January 22, 2019 with a luncheon featuring nationally syndicated columnist and author, Ellen Goodman. Goodman has spent most of her life chronicling social change and its impact on American life. As a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist, she was one of the first women to open up the oped pages to women’s voices and became, according to Media Watch, the most widely syndicated progressive columnist in the country.  Today she continues that work from her observation post as a writer, speaker, commentator and nonprofit leader.

The 106th Annual Birthday Luncheon will also honor the City of Dallas Office of Welcoming Communities and Immigrant Affairs as the 2019 recipient of the Pioneering Partner Award. Mayor Mike Rawlings will present the award on behalf of NCJW Dallas to Liz Cedillo-Pereira, Director of the Office.

The 106th Annual Luncheon is presented by Texas Capital Bank and will take place at noon at the Westin Galleria Dallas. .  Other lead sponsors include the Kalman and Ida Wolens Foundation and Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger.  Honorary Co-Chairs of the event are Cheryl Pollman, Jim and Leah Pasant, and Marnie Wildenthal.  Elaine Bernstein and Erin Zopolsky are serving as the Luncheon Co-Chairs.  Proceeds of the luncheon help support the community service projects and programs of NCJW Dallas.

About the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) Greater Dallas Section:

Since 1913, NCJW Dallas has been at the forefront of social change – championing the needs of women, children, and families – while courageously taking a progressive stance on such issues as child welfare, women’s rights, and reproductive freedom. Inspired by Jewish values – and our understanding that these values are universal – NCJW is the place where women come together to make the world at large and our community a better place.  For more information, visit  www.ncjwdallas.org or contact us.

A Special Thank You Message To NCJW Dallas From Nicole

NCJW Greater Dallas Section

What an honor it was to receive the 2018 inaugural UnSung Hero Award from the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation. I am grateful to NCJW Dallas for the nomination. I share this award with all of you and sincerely hope you know how much I enjoy being a part of the work the organization does, so tirelessly to improve the lives of women children and families in Dallas. You all are inspiring. You make what I do in the office easy as I am committed to supporting your efforts to provide lasting and meaningful help to those in need. Please know that I share your Jewish values and am so happy to explore and take action on the common ground that we share. It’s truly a blessing to work here and I have enjoyed the past three years immensely. Thank you for letting me be a part of your amazing work. I appreciate the recognition and I cherish the beautiful accolade.

“Doing a good job is not always about impressive innovation. Sometimes it is only about doing something with plain dedication.”

Thanks NCJW Dallas(friends)!
