“WHEN POLITICS DEFEATS SCIENCE”
OPENING MEETING
SEPTEMBER 16, 2008
9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
On Tuesday, September 16, we will have the honor of hosting Dr. Susan F. Wood. Dr. Wood is the former Assistant Commissioner for Women’s Health at the U. S. Food and Drug Administration where she directed the FDA Office of Women’s Health. In her role she was known as the champion for women’s health both inside and outside the agency. Her principled stance against the politicization of science at the FDA led her to resign her post in response to the FDA’s decision to once again delay approval of emergency contraception, despite the recommendation of the FDA scientific staff and advisory committees.
Join us to hear Dr. Wood describe her fight to restore the importance of science-based decision making and her on-going commitment to the health of women and their families.
Look for your invitation in the mail to arrive in late August.
